Course Description:
This course is aimed at individuals over the age of 16 who wish to become Exercise to Music Instructors.
You will learn:
- Exercise and fitness knowledge covering bones and joints, muscles and muscle actions, cardio respiratory systems, components of fitness and the principles of training
- The bodies systems and there response to exercise
- How to plan and teach safe and effective exercise to music sessions
- The principles of training
- How to adapt exercise to suit varied fitness levels
- To use a range of teaching skills
Course content & structure
To obtain the CYQ Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing - Exercise to Music, you must successfully complete the following units:
- Unit 1 - Exercise and Fitness Knowledge
- Unit 2 - Health, Safety & Professionalism in Exercise and Fitness Instruction
- Unit 3 - Instructing Exercise to Music
Pre-requisites:
You must be over 16 years of age.
Training Days:
Online
You will be required to attend 2 training days after you have completed the online material. These training days will re-cap on all of the theory you have learnt while studying on-line and provide you with an opportunity to put your practical skills into action. Your tutor will also give you valuable feedback to prepare you for your assessment.
Intensive
You will be required to attend 5 training days before your assessment day. These training days will re-cap on the pre-course reading material you have covered and will focus heavily on the practical elements of the course. Each day will combine theory and practical elements and throughout the 5 days you will receive valuable feedback to prepare you for your assessment.
Assessment
You will be required to attend 1 assessment day to complete this course. On your assessment day you will sit a multiple choice theory exam in the morning and then you will take your practical assessment. You will need to submit a portfolio of evidence to support your practical assessment. Your tutor will help you prepare this on your training day.
