This course is aimed at individuals over the age of 18 who wish to improve their knowledge of nutrition and weight management. Understanding the importance of good nutrition is vital to all fitness professionals and providing nutritional advice and strategies will improve the results of your clients and expand your current client base. It also forms part of the Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training qualification.
You will learn:
You must hold a current qualification (within 3 years) in either Level 2 Fitness Instructor - Gym or Level 2 Fitness Instructor - Exercise to Music. Candidates may also be considered if their qualification is not current but they can prove ongoing industry experience.

You will need to attend 1 assessment day. You will sit a multiple choice theory paper as part of the assessment for this qualification. You also need to complete a nutritional case study on a client of your choice. You will need to submit this case study on the day you sit your exam. You will be provided with a guidance pack to help you complete the nutritional case study.
After successfully completing this course you will be able to become a registered Level 3 Fitness Instructor with REPs. You will also have two options.
You can begin working within the industry as an Instructor with a speciality in providing nutritional advice. You will find employment opportunities in major health club chains, large hotels and local leisure centres. A full time fitness instructor can expect to earn between £12,000 - £18,000 per year. You will have the skills to carry out a nutritional analysis on a client and then provide advice on how they can improve their diet and/or manage their weight. You will then be able to use the information from the nutritional analysis to design an appropriate program to help the client reach their goals. You may also start carrying out nutritional analysis for people that aren’t regular gym users and you may also work with groups that are interested in being given basic nutritional advice such as local sporting teams.
You can progress onto the Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training course. This course consists of 5 modules. The modules are;
As you will already have the Level 3 Nutrition and Weight Management qualification you will only need to complete the other 4 modules to gain the overarching Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training qualification. This will allow you to begin working as a Personal Trainer.
You may set up your own business or work within a health club as an in-house trainer. You may decide to do a mixture of the two or even set up your own training studio. Personal Trainers earn in excess of £30,000 per year with some trainers charging over £100 per hour for their services.
After completing the Level 3 Advanced Instructing - Gym module, you will also be able to gain more specialist qualifications such as the Level 3 GP Referral certificate.
As a Level 3 Fitness Instructor you will be required to earn Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points to stay registered as a Level 3 Instructor with REPs. You will be able to complete any our CPD workshops, attend any of our CPD seminars or view any of our CPD webinars to earn your points.
