Course Summary

This qualification is particularly relevant for individuals who wish to pursue a career in teaching Yoga. Completion of this CYQ qualification will enable you to teach Yoga in either a group situation or one-to-one. Successful completion of this course will gain you entry at level 3 onto the Register of Exercise Professionals; REPs. It is also relevant for those already running such sessions without a formal qualification.

Candidates will learn:

  • How to plan, teach and evaluate a safe and effective yoga training session
  • Appropriate health and safety considerations
  • Yoga training approaches and techniques
  • How to set up a class

This course combines detailed knowledge of anatomy and physiology with a Yoga philosophy. It details the guidelines for teaching Asana, Pranayama, Mudra, Bandha, Kriyas and Meditation. This qualification will place you at the forefront of the Yoga industry as employers continue to seek teachers with government recognised qualifications.

The CYQ Level 3 course in Teaching Yoga is compiled of 4 units:

  • Unit 1 – Exercise and Fitness Knowledge (Level 3)
  • Unit 2 – Philosophy and Fundamentals of Yoga
  • Unit 3 – Plan and Prepare to instruct a progressive Yoga session
  • Unit 4 – Instruct, Manage, Adapt and Evaluate a Yoga session

Prerequisites

No formal entry requirements, although it is expected that you have a basic level of knowledge and experience of practicing Yoga.

This course is run in collaboration with Yoga Professionals.

Course & Schedule

Assessment

You will be required to complete a variety of activities to gain this qualification. All of the assessment requirements will be clearly explained to you throughout the course by your tutors.

Progression & Employment

After successfully completing this course you will be able to become a registered Level 3 Instructor with REPs.

By the end of your training with our partner Yoga Professionals, you will have knowledge of how to teach many yoga practices and styles including themed (specific to an ailment or individual) and Vinyasa. You will be able to teach from gentle restorative classes to a more dynamic style with the grounding of a more classic session which you will plan to teach for your assessment.

Yoga is becoming very popular and Freelance Yoga instructors can enjoy the freedom of choosing the hours and venues that they work. You may decide to set up your own studio or rent your own space to run your own classes or you may decide to work on a one to one basis with clients with a Personal Training approach.

REPs requirements:

As a Level 3 Instructor you will be required to earn Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points to stay registered as a Level 3 Instructor with REPs. You will be able to complete any our CPD workshops, attend any of our CPD seminars or view any of our CPD webinars to earn your points. Yoga Professionals also have a range of specific Yoga related CPD courses.
